Classical Acupoints |
Through thousands of years of experimentation and observation, practitioners identified a "classification" of acupoints (some literature refers to classical points as "traditional points"). These acupoints are located in specific regions of the body such as the head, neck, trunk, thoracic limbs, pelvic limbs, and tail. They are usually identified by their Chinese pinyin name. Some of these classical acupoints are located along meridians, but many are not located on a known meridian. Each classical point has very specific energetic actions for which they are known. Two examples of Classical Acupoints are given in the chart below.
