Welcome to the Tallgrass Chat Room

People interested in animal acupressure and other complementary modalities are welcome to join the Tallgrass Chat Room.  It provides a terrific way to exchange information. People ask for help with an animal issue and we all have an opportunity to learn from each other. When you have a problem or question you can post it to the Chat Room and others in the group respond with suggested solutions. There have been very interesting discussions among the participants as well about many animal-related topics. It is a great way to learn together.

An example of this is when one person asked about how to deal with a dog’s incontinence. Many responded saying they had taken their dog or cat to a veterinary acupuncturist and the incontinence was resolved anywhere from one session to four sessions. Jaime Yates Yee from Boston did further research and suggested acupressure as well and she identified acupoints based on using  the Tallgrass publications, The Well-Connected Dog: A Guide to Canine Acupressure  and Canine Energetics & Landmark Anatomy,  as well as  Four Paws Five Directions.  The acupoints that she suggested were:
GV4 - to activate the Kidney Yang
BL23 - to Balance the kidneys
CV4 - to stabilize the Kidneys, regulate the Qi and to restore the Yang of the Kidneys
ST36 - to tonify Qi in the lower portion of the body
SP6 - Master point for urogenital system
Also recommended - Moxa on GV4, BL23, ST36, SP6

This was a very helpful exchange of information. Another interesting discussion about “Coonhound Paralysis” technically known as Polyradiculoneuritis, an acute neurological disorder in dogs suspected of being associated with an overstimulation of the immune system due to a number of possible causes. One person asked a question, another did some research and shared it with the group, and yet two other people made wholistic recommendations regarding this condition.

Hoof care has been a huge topic of late on the Chat Room. Robyn Grice in Australia has been having some severe hoof issues with her horses and requested help from the group. This turned into a very productive discussion about rose hips, vitamin C, dandelion, carrot seed oil and many suggested acupressure points for clearing the Liver.

This is the type of on-going activity we have on the Tallgrass Chat Room and we encourage you to join the group and participate. It is good to share and learn and this group has a lot to offer.
